Snack cucumber is the smallest commercial format, sold in punnets and lunchbox packs and eaten whole without cutting. It is a convenience product, and its price reflects the pack rather than the kilogram. Uniformity matters more here than in any other cucumber type, because the fruit is visible individually in a transparent pack.
What the crop needs
The crop is grown on substrate and carried on a high wire. The cycle is short or set by the project rather than fixed, which makes it a candidate for slotting between other crops in a house. Very frequent picking is the defining operational demand: the fruit is small, reaches grade fast, and passes out of specification quickly if it is left.
What the greenhouse has to do
Snack cucumber runs a short cycle, which makes scheduling the design question. A short crop can be slotted between longer ones, but only if the house allows it: compartment sizes, the climate the neighbouring crop needs and the labour available for frequent picking all decide whether that slot is real or theoretical.
The fruit is sold in a transparent pack and eaten whole, so every fruit is inspected by the buyer. That puts the ordinary cucumber demand on the building and sharpens it. Even transmission, even air movement and even water delivery matter more here, because a section out of step shows up as fruit the pack rejects rather than as a lower weight.

What does a short-cycle crop ask of the greenhouse?
