Model-based pricing: how it works

Every GrowPro model is priced from one price book — the same source that generates our quote documents, so the price list, the specification and the quote always agree.

The offer covers the complete greenhouse hardware: frame, covering, ventilation, energy-saving screens, heating, irrigation systems, electrical installation and climate control (Expert and Plus additionally include growing systems). The basis is hardware FOB Rotterdam, engineering included. Foundation, assembly, transport and supervision are always shown separately as estimations — local labour rates and site conditions set them, not the price book.

The current price list is being re-issued from the price book. Request it and you receive the model prices with their basis stated, in EUR and USD.

Notes on the offer and inclusions

  • The offer covers greenhouse structure, ventilation, cladding, heating, screening, irrigation, cultivation system (Expert and Plus), electrical system and climate computer.
  • Assembly assumes local contractors with partial workforce support — never part of the hardware offer, always estimated separately.
  • Crop-specific equipment (harvest, packing, hygiene, cooling, lighting) is configured and quoted from the options catalogue.

How the numbers are built

GrowPro greenhouse cost follows the same clear breakdown a farmer expects for a barn or poultry house:

  • Materials — the backbone: steel framing, glazing, screening, ventilation and all core components, selected for durability, energy efficiency and long service life. The offer basis is hardware FOB Rotterdam, engineering included.
  • Assembly and local works — on-site construction, foundations and concrete works, usually by local contractors. Always shown as an estimation, because local wages, soil and site conditions set them — not the price book.
  • One price book — every model price is generated from the same source that produces our quote documents. The price list, the specification and the quote always agree, and every number carries its basis.

The economy of scale is substantial: cost per m² falls as the model grows, because fixed costs — the service building, the technical installations, engineering — spread over more surface. The price list shows this per model.

Every farm is unique — soil, climate, utilities and crop selection all influence the final design. Frequently asked questions about greenhouse pricing

How much does a 1-acre glass greenhouse cost?

That depends on the series: Basic (4 m, soil-based), Expert (5 m, hydroponic) or Plus (6 m, which starts at 2 acres). Each model has a fixed hardware price in one price book — the same book our quote documents are generated from. The current price list is being re-issued; request it via the contact page and you receive every model price with its basis stated: hardware FOB Rotterdam, engineering included, local works estimated separately.

What is the cost of a greenhouse per hectare?

Cost per m² falls as projects grow, because fixed costs spread over more surface. One hectare is 2.47 acres, so hectare-scale projects sit in the Plus series, where the per-m² price is the lowest in the GrowPro line. The price list shows the per-m² figure for every model, on a stated basis.

What do the material costs cover?

The hardware offer covers the structure and its installations: steel and aluminium framing, glass cladding, gutters and rainwater discharge, ventilation, screening, heating, irrigation and fertigation, the electrical installation and the climate computer. Expert and Plus additionally include growing systems. Engineering is included; the delivery basis is FOB Rotterdam.

What are the assembly costs?

Assembly, foundations and concrete are always shown separately as estimations, because local labour rates, soil and site conditions set them — not the price book. Your quote lists them as their own lines, so you can hand them to a local contractor and compare like for like.

Why are material and assembly costs separated?

Transparency and planability: materials are a fixed package of proven systems supplied by DutchGreenhouses, while assembly is usually executed by local contractors and varies with local wages, regulations and site conditions. You compare like-for-like costs while adapting to regional realities.

Is it cheaper to build a smaller or larger greenhouse?

Per square metre, larger is cheaper: fixed costs — the service building, the technical installations, engineering — spread over a larger surface, and labour and logistics get more efficient. The absolute investment is higher, of course; the price list shows both figures for every model.

Do costs vary by country or climate?

Yes — local labour and concrete costs, climate and energy requirements, transport and permitting all influence the final figure. The model hardware price is fixed in the price book; the local estimations are adapted to your region and always labelled as estimations.
